'Flower Works' Feature

Mid week surprises are always nice.  The lovely ladies from Flower Works managed to select a lovely collection of images for the mid-week feature.  Happily, my image Peony Face, seen in the top row, third from the left, was selected to be in the group.  It is one of my favorite images of the gorgeous Peonies that bloom in June.  I cant wait for the new crop this year.  After all our snow storms and nasty winter/early spring, it will be wonderful to see them and the lilies, iris and roses again.

'Fog On The River'

© FD - Fog On The River

A somewhat new group for me is The Dreaming Sea and Inland Waters. I have been trying for a while to have an image accepted as part of the group, since it is a very selective one, and was thrilled today to have my image, Fog On The River, accepted into the group, and voted as a Top Ten Finalist in a Challenge that depicted fog as the subject.
This image is part of a series that I have taken over the past year that depicts this view, which happens to be across the road from my home.  It has provided me with a number of peaceful and pretty views as we pass through the seasons and weather.

'Not Currier and Ives' Redux

© FD - Not Currier or Ives

I was surprised to received notification this morning that my 'Not Currier or Ives' image was selected as a feature in the Everyday Woman Group.
I have mentioned that this is a relatively new group for me, so I was especially happy that this image was included as part of the featurer group.

"Bubbles" All Over Again

© FD - Bubbles

Well, it seems that one of my new found groups has selected a whimsy image of mine - Bubbles - as a new feature.  Makes me kind of happy because my experiment in including the Bokeh effect* creating this abstract image has been received quite well.

* In soft focus photography there is an intentional blurriness added to the subject while the actual edges are kept in sharp focus, but in bokeh it is only an element of the image that is intentionally blurred. Additionally, bokeh tends to emphasize certain points of light in the image as well. The bubbles result in a shallow depth of field.

In my case I reversed things, having the bubbles appear in the front of the image instead.

Everyday Women - Autumn Challenge

"The Challenge":   "We have a Spring challenge ready to start voting on, and as Autumn is here in the Southern hemisphere…. we have another challenge for you."

So, these are the results.  A pretty interesting selection for the group, and I'm happy to say that my image Essence of Autumn, was selected as a finalist in the group of 10.  It appears on the top row, middle frame. And so April begins.

For April

© FD - Venice Vase Spring
This came as a total surprise, but one that I am very happy about.  I have always admired the Artistic Flowers  group and moderators, so I am really happy that my image, Venice Vase Spring, was selected as a new feature to start off the month of April .

Month's End

© FD - Autumn's End

A last minute reclamation of an image taken earlier this fall has resulted in some very favorable attention.  The group Pastels and Whites just posted features for the week, and I am happy to say that my image Autumn's End was included in the group.  A nice way to start the week, and end the month.  I'll take it!

©FD - Field of Dreamers

In the middle of the winter a year or two ago, a whimsy doodle of mine using a drawing program, resulted in an image I called 'Field of Dreamers'.  Not an image I necessarily have pushed for acceptance, but one that is a wistful homage to a distant spring day - maybe not too far away.
Several days ago, I submitted it to several new groups.  Someone liked it, and now it is a feature again. This group is know as Old Farts of RedBubble.  That in itself made me laugh all afternoon.  It also makes me happy because it has become my signature image for many items.
